Metaphor - a part of our thinking process. We are born, not noticing it, immersed in a metaphorical world. He appears before us in the form of fairy tales, inspiring a variety of different versions of the truth of the real world. The most famous metaphor collection is the Bible. Jesus taught in parables. And when we read or listen to the stories of the Good Samaritan or the Prodigal Son, the hidden meaning in them penetrate into our consciousness and become part of the world. Any kind of art as a metaphor gives a certain truths or ideas. Michelangelo painted the figure of Leda with a swan to illustrate being lost in the ecstasy of physical passion, and the figure of Leda, without a swan - as an illustration of being lost in the agony of dying
The metaphors used by a single individual is representative of the culture in which he grew up, life position, the perception of a particular situation, in which he is at the moment, the true attitude toward people from the environment. All this can be found, if you carefully listen to. Remember, you heard: "Dark Horse", "in his prime," "an empty man." Realizing how metaphors define a person's life, you will be able to understand the style of thinking, the problem in his perception, ways of interaction with him. Understanding the metaphors used in the communication and determines the position of the interlocutor, will also help you to understand his personal experiences as real hopes and fears are stored at a subconscious level, as well as internal resources to solve problems. In addition, skillfully woven into the fabric of the conversation metaphor for the subconscious will send your buddy to find resources and solutions. Any metaphorical message in the speech will have an impact on how you or your partner sees a conversation or situation. For example: "It is time to take the bull by the horns" and " Give them Hell," "In the ring of negotiations ..."
Metaphorical communication is an extensive section of psychology. There are lots of different speech patterns conducive to intensive influence on the listener with his telling of a metaphorical story [1]. One of the first therapists in the practice of consciously apply the metaphor was Milton Erikson [2]. It is used in its metaphorical model of two types of communication patterns. First, selective enforced restrictions. For example, a sad river, a severe decline. When the other person hears such remarks, his subconscious mind realizes that the river can not be sad and stern, and the sunset of his mind inevitably concludes that in fact we are talking about it at the time as an active subconscious perceives the true meaning of the utterance. The second pattern: quote or receive "quotes". It is in reference to someone's authoritative opinion and works almost flawlessly.
In the Collins English Dictionary, published in 1979 defined a metaphor as a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action that does not mean them literally, but in order to sub audition similarities. For example: "In the battle he was a lion."
A broader definition of metaphor was given by Aristotle [3] He identified the metaphor, as naming the thing a name belonging to something else at which the transfer is done either in the form of the genus or species of the type, either on the basis of analogy.
In the literary encyclopedia, a metaphor
is defined as a figure of speech which consists in the use of words or expressions in a metaphorical sense, based on an analogy, similarity comparison.
The world of metaphors is beautiful, diverse, multi-dimensional. However, if you continue to dissect the tissue being, then the level of verbal reality, the following types of metaphors: proverbs and sayings, stories, anecdotes, parables, legends, fairy tales and poetry.
Tales from other types of artistic epic, are different in that they initially perceive as fiction, fantasy game. However, under these brightly colored clothes are always some hidden truth in the report which the consciousness hears is the purpose of fairy tales.
Traditionally therapy by the fairy tail, used as a standard for the identification of unconscious behavior strategies from the client and / or its underlying psychological problems.
However, this traditional approach has always stops on the external social level at which gender stereotyping has already occurred and the unidentified client stuck herself with any fabulous hero from the data of stereotypes.
The proposed method is called " Deep therapy by the fairy tail" based on the fact that it is based on the concept that, just as the acquisition of fairy tales (tales about animals, social stories (which give an idea about the rules of conduct in dealing with social conflict without the gender division of roles), sex-role tales) reflects the level of standardization of social identity and a consistent movement in the opposite direction to identify the "favorite stories" in each of these steps will contribute to the manifestation of psychological problems and, therefore, to resolve them. For example, a client of a teenage girl on the external (gender role) level was a "favorite" fairy tale about "sleeping beauty" in which it is a sleeping princess equating with (a problem - wait, omissions, control and responsibility over the situation given to the other). On the average (social) level - a fairy tale "The Steadfast Tin Soldier On." It happened to the unidentified soldier and the ballerina at the time of the merger in the flame. Shows strengths - strength, courage and tenderness, refinement blocked sex-role stereotypes imposed by family upbringing. At the deepest level of nature (the tale of animals) - the beloved fairy tale "about Rikki-Tiki-Tavi" in which the client was mentally united himself with the mongoose. Using this way showed a strong natural qualities and creative potential of freeing them from the oppression of sex-role stereotypes and social.
Progress on these levels is in the process of psychotherapeutic conversation with imaging, projective techniques, working with images. A more detailed description is not enough possible because in the process, there are many nuances that depend on the particular client and his situation.
